Women Empowerment

PMI Chennai Chapter launched "Women empowerment" initiatives, at the grand occasion of the Chapter’s 20th Anniversary Curtain Raiser Celebrations, held at IIT Madras Research Park, on the 28th May 2022. Our Chapter volunteer & PMI South Asia WEC (Women Empowerment Committee) Member, Aparna Grandhi delivered a presentation on these initiatives at this in-person event, in the presence of PMI SA Region mentor - Prasanna Sampathkumar and PMICC President - M Parvez Alam.

1. W-Greet n Meet: An informal platform for women, to meet, introduce themselves, interact, get to know about each other, share their experiences, and to guide them on specific career needs.

2. W-Entrepreneur Connect: A platform for Women Entrepreneurs to connect, partner, start and promote their Business

3. W-Pause and Restart: A Platform

• PAUSE – for those who want to pause their career & navigate safely by rediscovering themselves

• RESTART – to communicate women-specific opportunities / roles / openings in corporate companies for women seeking to resume their career (Second career)

4. W-Groom: A Platform for empowering Female Students through Mentoring / Coaching / Guest Lectures (Virtual / at Campus)

PMI Chennai Chapter's Women Empowerment Committee organized "Women Greet n Meet" event on 23rd July 2022 at IIT Madras Research Park, to provide career guidance and help with professional growth of women.  Around 30 plus women participated and had one-on-one conversations with experienced women mentors from the industry & get advised in the areas of Leadership, Work life Balance, Entrepreneurship, Restarting career after break, etc.

This newly designed Women empowerment initiative is aimed to identify & address the pain points of women traversing through their mid-career & senior leadership roles.  Women experts from diverse background and experiences have made the day very impactful in empowering the women.  PMI Chennai Chapter is much appreciated by all attendees such as mentees, mentors, volunteers and other leaders, in successfully executing a first-of-its-kind in-person event, and received applause for planning & executing the initiative, in a well-organized manner.  This event also welcomed spouse & women colleagues of our Chapter members.  Proud to say that, this event is completely driven by the women & for the women.

PMI Chennai Chapter’s WEC team is continuing to provide career guidance programs in virtual mode for the women, post this event, to cater specific career needs of Women.
