★ Executive Summary

The PMI Social Impact Portfolio refers to Project Management Institute's (PMI) structured collection of initiatives and programs that apply project management expertise to drive positive change, primarily aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) Goals through targeted outreach and volunteer-led initiatives.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) recognized PMI Chennai Chapter with the prestigious PMI Chapter of the Year Award 2025 — a global honour celebrating excellence in chapter leadership, impact, innovation, and community engagement within the PMI network. This accolade was officially announced at the 2025 PMI® Global Awards during the PMI Global Summit 2025 held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Social Impact - Benefits for PMI Members

PMI Chennai Chapter members engage through volunteering, local chapter activities, and global programs, applying their skills to real-world projects like youth education, tree planting, and community mentorship. This fosters professional development, networking, and a sense of purpose, with examples including training youth in PM life skills and contributing hours to SDG-related efforts.

Societal Impact

For society, it delivers measurable outcomes such as empowering communities, improving education and health access, promoting sustainability (e.g., planting 1,500 trees), and supporting economic stability across multiple SDGs like 3 (health), 4 (education), and 13 (climate action). Partnerships with nonprofits amplify these efforts, creating long-term improvements worldwide.

Key highlights include empowering tribal schoolchildren via Project Nambikkai, supporting polytechnic students through Project Kural, PM training for Avtar Trust, and a Marina Beach Cleanup with SWOTT—impacting health (SDG 3), education (SDG 4), clean water (SDG 6), and life on land (SDG 15).
