We are thrilled to share the resounding success of the PMI Chennai Chapter’s Knowledge Sharing Session (KSS) and Networking Event held on 30 August 2025 at Infosys, Coimbatore.
The event brought together over 120 professionals from diverse industry sectors, including esteemed academia faculty and students, fostering a vibrant and inclusive exchange of ideas.
A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Mr. Balakumar Thangavelu on “Decision Making (Business Thinking) Under High Uncertainty and Dynamic Environments”. His insights provided a compelling framework for navigating today’s complex business challenges.
The panel discussion on “Building High-Performance Teams: Culture, Empowerment, and Resilience” featured an exceptional lineup of speakers:

Delighted to share the success of PMI Chennai chapter’s first KSS & Networking Event of 2025 held on 30 Aug 2025 at Infosys -SVB Tech Park, Coimbatore.
The event witnessed the participation of over 120 professionals representing a wide spectrum of industry domains, including Academia faculties and students contributing to a rich and diverse dialogue and networking.
The session started with a warm welcome address by Dr. Parvez Alam, Immediate past president of PMI Chennai Chapter and Incoming Region Mentor for PMI South Asia.
Followed by Guest address from Mr. Saravanakumar -DC Operations Head,Infosys-coimbatore to the audience emphasizing the importance of project management.
Context setting for the event was done by Mr. Vijay Narayanan -President, PMI Chennai Chapter providing highlights of PMI Chennai chapter and its journey.
The keynote address by Mr. Balakumar Thangavelu -Director,CSR – India Head -Employee volunteering and ESG, Cognizant ,Coimbatore on “Decision Making (Business Thinking) Under High Uncertain and Dynamic Environment” offered profound insights into navigating complexity in today’s business landscape.
PMI’s Buddy program launch was directly live streamed to the participants which gave insights about welcoming new PMI South Asia members, the Connect | Learn | Grow webinar series showcasing benefits like volunteering, certifications, and chapter activities, while inspiring engagement through testimonials, interactive activities, and networking opportunities.
The Panel discussion on “Building High-Performance Teams: Culture, Empowerment, and Resilience” featured distinguished speakers—Mr. Shanmuganand Sivaraman- Principal consultant,Infosys, Ms. Banu Pavithra Varagumurthy-DAMO,Global IT services, Thoughtworks,Coimbatore, Mr. Hariprasad Kandaswamy- DGM-HR-LVE &NPD- Schneider electric India Pvt Ltd, Coimbatore, and Mr. Kiron K Abraham- Associate director, Bosch Global software technologies pvt Ltd,Coimbatore—who shared valuable perspectives on fostering organizational excellence.
Then all our long-standing members of the chapter were recognized for their continued support for 5 yrs, 10yrs and 15yrs association with us.
Dr B. Shyam Sundar- Vice President, Outreach and Director of this event addressed the Student club initiative of PMI and the recent launch of Student club with Amrita business school, Coimbatore. He emphasized the importance of student clubs which are addressing the gap between higher education and the professional world. Further he said, The student clubs connect the students with the local chapter to help the students gain project management skills, leadership skill,power skills and make meaningful connections with industry experts / professionals. He has introduced the student club members of Amrita business school to the participants and recognized their interest and willingness to steer the club.
Volunteers are the backbone of the chapter and without them this event wouldn’t be possible. So all the volunteers were recognized for their immense contribution.
Finally vote of thanks was delivered by Selvi Nandhakumar, AVP, Outreach for entire stakeholders and participants.
The whole event was co-ordinated by Radha Somasundaram -Sr. Champion, PMI South Asia and Senior volunteer of PMI Chennai Chapter.
