The PMI Chennai Chapter introduced its Academia Forum as part of its outreach portfolio during the annual Tamil Virtual Conference on Project Management, themed "Thittamidu Vetrithodu", held on 11th and 12th December 2020.
In response to this initiative, the Chapter inaugurated its first Academia Forum at the Crescent Institute of Engineering and Technology, Chennai, on 16th March 2021. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening PMI’s engagement with academic institutions.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. P. Vasanthi, Dean, School of Infrastructure, followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Prof. A. Peer Mohamed, Vice Chancellor. The Inaugural Address was given by Dr. B. Shyam Sundar, and Mr. Parvez Alam introduced PMI and the Chennai Chapter.

The announcement of the Academia Forum Office Bearers was made by Ms. V. Roopa, Associate Professor, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks. A Special Address on the role of project management in the Engineering & Construction sector was presented by Mr. Tony Jacob.
The event received an overwhelming response from the students, highlighting the growing interest in project management as a vital skill for future professionals.
